R A C H A B E T H

Greetings. My name is Rachel Elizabeth aka Rachabeth, Sophie, Raphie, etcetc. I'm 25 years-old, American (born and raised), blonde, a teacher, a writer and reader, a feminist, a conflicted/non-practicing Catholic, and strong believer in LGBT rights. In 2009, I earned my BA from Rutgers University and majored in English/Sociology because I loved English and Sociology was easy. In 2012, I completed a MA in English Literature and feel so free being away from graduate school. At the moment, I'm seeking an international teaching career.

According to Myers-Briggs I am an ENFP. I'm fairly friendly, but I can be very honest and sarcastic, and don't exactly mesh with sensitive types. This doesn't mind I'm ignorant or rude, however, and I won't tolerate any racism, homophobia, sexism, or any other abuse on my livejournal.

In this journal, I like to talk about my life, including classes and personal adventures, and I may come off as self-centered at times. My friends think I'm spoiled and a bit of a "princess," but I'm well aware of my own short-comings. Like most people on livejournal, I'm a total fangirl who gets easily obsessed with television shows, books, pretty boys (aka slash), and delicious food. I try not to have entries solely dedicated to squeeing, but forgive me if they pop up every now and then.

This is my journal. Therefore it will not be an unpleasant or hostile place for me to be. No flaming is allowed. Period. While you're ENCOURAGED to express your opinion, you're asked to do so in a respectful manner. I'm NOT a fan of SENSELESS bashing and sometimes heated debates make me very uncomfortable. In other words, don't insult anyone's opinion. It's unfair, because I've a variety of friends on my list with a variety of beliefs. I will not add anyone who proudly declares to be a Drama Queen. I'm sorry, but I've had far too many negative experiences because of that type attitude and it'll be unwelcome here.

B O O K S; A Clockwork Orange, A Series of Unfortunate Events, And Then There Were None, Candide, Dracula, The Handmaid's Tale, The Green Mile, Gone With The Wind, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, It, Jekyll&Hyde, Let The Right One In, Lolita, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Pride and Prejudice, Song of Ice and Fire, Salem's Lot, Shakespearean Plays - the favorite being Macbeth, The Sookie Stackhouse Series, and Wuthering Heights. More can be found at my goodreads profile.

M O V I E S; A Clockwork Orange, A Few Good Men, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Boondock Saints, The Breakfast Club, Brokeback Mountain, Clueless, The Dark Knight, The Devil Wears Prada, Dracula: Dead And Loving It, Gone With The Wind, Heathers, Kill Bill: Volumes 1&2, Little Miss Sunshine, Mean Girls, Men In Black, Misery, The Mummy, Penelope, Pulp Fiction, Psycho, Psycho Beach Party, Quills, The Shining, Sin City, Sleepy Hollow, and V For Vendetta. There are MANY more, and I consider myself a Movie Fiend. I'm always open to recommendations.

T E L E V I S I O N; Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Dexter, Game of Thrones, Moral Orel, Law&Order: SVU, Oz, To Catch A Predator ('cause it's funny), Six Feet Under, South Park, Supersize v. Superskinny (guilty pleasure :|), True Blood, and The Tudors

P O L I T I C S / R E L I G I O N; I'm a believer in maximum liberty and freedom, and right now mostly identify as a libertarian socialist. And no, I don't read Ayn Rand and think Tea Partiers should stop claiming they're libertarians (they're not). Although I no longer go to Mass every Sunday, I identify as 'lapsed Catholic' and still try to stay informed about the Church since it was a huge part of my upbringing. I'm a sex-positive feminist. The following organizations are mostly Catholic and Libertarian-related, and should provide a good idea of my feelings toward the issues: Alliance of the Libertarian Left, Association of Libertarian Feminists, Catholics For Choice, Dignity USA, End The Death Penalty, Feminists For Free Expression, Legalization of Marijuana, Libertarian Party, Outright Libertarians, Pro-choice Libertarians, Sex Workers Outreach Project.
